Zhang Hong, chairwoman of Yunlan Bay Sweet Town, a popular hot spring resort in neighboring Zhejiang Province, and executive deputy director of the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Jiaxing City, donated 1 million yuan (US$142,857) on January 29 to the Dayun Town branch of the Jiashan County Charity Federation to aid relief work in Wuhan, the epicenter of the novel coronavirus-related pneumonia in central China’s Hubei Province.

To prevent the spread of the virus, Zhang required the hot spring and the scenic area to shut down on Chinese New Year’s Eve, and voluntarily canceled over 1,000 tables of pre-ordered banquets.

“I went through the SARS epidemic in 2003, which took the lives of many people and made a lot of families broken. In face of a disaster, humanity is often challenged. But as long as we are united and spread the love to those in need, I do believe we will get through the difficulties soon,” said Zhang.
