China's advertising market continued to show signs of returning strength, according to the latest figures from CTR Research.

Nationwide advertising spending in June, excluding digital spending, edged up 1 percent from a month earlier, while annual decline narrowed to 12.6 percent, compared with a 17.1 percent drop in May and a 29.8 percent tumble in April.

June figures showed the largest gains in advertising channels such as elevator posters and LCD screens. Other major segments such as commercial services, entertainment and leisure activities and offline campaigns were still lagging behind.

Spending from food and beverage makers on TV and radio ads posted a 22 percent annual increase, with big spenders including health food, condiment, staple food and cooking oil brands.

Mid-year online sales events in June also boosted spending by all major e-tailers including Tmall, Suning and JD.
