With support from the Shanghai Commission of Commerce and Xuhui District authorities, the Shanghai Delicious Food Store launched a fair on Friday showing local brands taking on a trendy style.

As part of the Double Five Shopping Festival campaign, the fair serves as a promotion and sales platform for domestic brands and products that incorporate Chinese tradition and culture, a trend known as guochao.

More than 30 well-established local brands participated in the fair, including Shen Da Cheng, Xing Hua Lou, Kaisiling Cake, Lao Xiang Zhai, Sun Ya Cantonese Restaurant & Food and shoe brand Warrior.

The fair will run until May 24, with a new product launch event and two kinds of interactive experiences, during which consumers can try making zongzi and slicing hams.

Seven of the company’s physical stores are offering their biggest discounts ever. From May 15 to May 24, customers can pay 1 yuan (14 US cents) for a 30-yuan voucher they can use in the stores. A total of 50,000 vouchers will be handed out to customers over the 10-day period.
