Shanghai to launch online exhibition for innovation, entrepreneurship week

The first online exhibition platform for Shanghai’s mass entrepreneurship and innovation week will be operational on Thursday. The platform is part of the national mass entrepreneurship and innovation week that will last from October 15 to 21.

The annual event will include activities held across the country under the theme of "Innovation leads entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship drives employment."

“Apart from the launch ceremony, most activities will be held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” organizers said during a press briefing held on Tuesday.

On the city’s online platform, over 500 projects will be exhibited. Major projects include those from local high-tech companies such as SenseTime, Advanced Micro-Fabrication Equipment, United Imaging and Himalaya.

Also of note, the platform will have a recruitment area, which will offer more than 500 jobs related to entrepreneurship and innovation.

The mass entrepreneurship and innovation week aims to help build a climate for innovation, entrepreneurship and creation, and unleash the driving forces of innovation, entrepreneurship and creation throughout society, the National Development and Reform Commission said on Monday.

The mass entrepreneurship and innovation policy, introduced in 2014 by Premier Li Keqiang, has been an effective driver for economic growth and the consistent transition between traditional and new growth engines.
