Chinese equities on the rise

Tech shares lead the way as indexes continue on an upward path on Tuesday though total turnover shrinks slightly from the previous day's trading.

China’s main equity indexes climbed on Tuesday, led by tech shares.

At the close, the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index advanced 0.5 percent to stand at 2,954.38 points, while the smaller Shenzhen Component Index was up by 0.93 percent to end at 9,642.09 points.

The blue chip CSI300 index gained 0.39 percent to 3,895.88 points.

Turnover on the two major bourses totaled 357 billion yuan (US$50.41 billion), shrinking a bit from the previous trading session of 370 billion yuan.

Most individual shares gained with 2, 847 advancing and 728 declining. Tech shares led the gains. Shandong Gettop Acoustic Co Ltd hit the daily cap.

On the new STAR Market, most shares rose, with just five companies posting declines. Jiangsu Cnano Technology Co Ltd led the gains while Xi'an Bright Laser Technologies Co Ltd suffered biggest losses.
