Another mixed day for Chinese markets

Amidst thinned trading, securities and insurance shares were the biggest losers. Precious metal, jewellery and medical sectors led the gains.

Chinese equities finished another trading session with mixed results on Wednesday.

By the end of market hours, the Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.33 percent to 2,905.24 points, while the Shenzhen Component Index added 0.18 percent to 9,687.85 points. The blue chip CSI300 index shed 0.10 percent to 3,899.98 points.

Securities and insurance shares were the biggest losers. Fossil oil shares also performed poorly, dropping an average 0.98 percent.

Precious metals, jewellery and medical stocks led the gains. Chifeng Gold hit the daily limit of 10 percent.

Turnover on the two major bourses totaled 359.3 billion yuan (US$51.13billion), down from 365.5 billion yuan on Tuesday.

On the STAR Market, most shares gained and only 3 posted declines. DBAPPSecurity, a company focused on cyber security products, was the biggest gainer, soaring by 13.76 percent.
