In a bid to expand the applications of 5G technology, China Mobile has set up a public experience zone at the Hangzhou East Railway Station. Located at the station's West Square, visitors can experience 5G via virtual reality tours, artificial intelligence robots and unmanned logistics drones.

At the railway station, download speeds can reach 900 megabytes per second with the 5G network, representing a considerable improvement in speed compared with 4G.

“In the future, China Mobile will cooperate with the railway station to widely promote 5G applications for security, entertainment, retail, logistics and trash sorting purposes,” said Wang Yifan, manager of the Hangzhou 5G project at China Mobile.

So far, more than 3,000 mobile base stations have been erected in downtown Hangzhou, covering about 1,200 square kilometers.
