The COVID-19 outbreak has seen a surge in demand for specific devices from China’s home appliance giants.

Products with health care and nutrition features or cleaning and purifying functions have great potential in China, especially during the outbreak and after, said Song Liqiang, director of the China Testing & Inspection Institute for Household and Electric Appliances.

Shenzhen-listed Midea said it had seen surging sales of its devices related to health care, including humidifiers, smart refrigerators and sterilization devices.

Shenzhen-listed Gree, which sells air conditioners, is offering face masks on its online store which may, in turn, boost sales of its devices.

Shanghai-listed Hisense also bets on products with enhanced feature in health care. It has launched an air conditioner which it claims can fill a room with fresh air within three minutes.
