Didi trials Hitch service for coworkers amid virus outbreak
Didi is offering a trial Hitch service for corporate customers so that employees can share rides.
The service is available in 17 cities such as Shanghai, Hangzhou, Beijing and Taiyuan, where Hitch was restored last year under tightened safety rules.
Drivers and riders can share their routes with coworkers to help reduce the use of public transportation.
They can book rides between 5am and 11pm.
New safety rules for Hitch rides including a one-click police emergency call button and minimized display of personal information. Special protections for female riders and drivers have been put in place following the murder of two female passengers by Didi Hitch drivers in 2018.
Rides between cities have also been suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Didi reiterated that drivers and passengers should wear masks and report their health information before each ride. Free vehicle disinfection services are also available.
