At the Western International School of Shanghai, we are very proud of having a rich and engaging performing arts program that provides an opportunity for all students to experience the stage — bringing to life extraordinary performances.

The arts are essential in the development of students at all ages.

And in this case, music education, dance and drama provide an invaluable medium for students to develop their skills — boosting their confidence, allowing them to take ownership of their performance and becoming greatly independent.

Our performing arts classes are always busy with students playing in bands, practicing instruments, learning new dance routines, practicing in the orchestra, composing original songs or learning lines for a play.

It is a vibrant environment that allows students to embark on a unique journey of self-expression.

The performing arts program reinforces the IB approaches to learning. Preparing for performances develops thinking, communication, social and self-management skills.

It is admirable to see how far our young students can go with the right support. Their progress makes us at the Western International School so proud.
