An ongoing exhibition at the Shanghai Art & Design Academy offers a rare glimpse of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's art to the public.

The exhibition, organized by Jin Zhao Art Museum, features nearly 70 canvases created by three generations of DPRK artists.

It runs until December 5.

“DPRK art entered China in the mid-1990s,” said Hu Yaozhong, director of the museum. “I hope that this exhibition will offer an opportunity for locals to appreciate the harmony and serenity that radiate from these oil paintings.”

The paintings on display include many technically sophisticated, realistic depictions of figures and landscapes.
