On display at the China Art Museum through March, “From Vision to Fruition” is one of a series of national-achievements exhibitions for advanced art education.

Sponsored by the Art Education Committee of the Ministry of Education, the academic expo features nearly 500 documents related to art courses, teaching plans and art achievements from China’s 50 art academies.

Visitors can see items such as teaching materials on anatomy in 1957 and the “History of Western Fine Art” published by Tsinghua University in 1959.

Initiated by the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts of the Shanghai University in 2017, the project consists of a series of exhibitions, including the “2017 National Invitational Exhibition for the Outstanding Student Works of Fine Arts” and the “2018 National Invitational Exhibition for the Excellent Works of Art College Teachers.”

In addition to the exhibition, the project includes forums and summaries for a retrospective view of 70 years of the history of art education in the country, with the goal of stimulating discussion about the current problems in art education in China.

The topic of this year’s forum is “The Future Direction of China’s Art Education.” Directors of some of the country’s top art academies share their views and experiences at the forum.

Pang Maokun, director of Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, one of China top academies, said: “The readjustment of faculties and specialities will fuse art and techniques.”
