Movie lovers enjoy a free outdoor cinema at Shanghai Village.

Nights are coming alive this summer at Shanghai Village, a European shopping destination in the Pudong New Area. A variety of activities are on offer from Thursday to Sunday, including an open-air cinema, live music, riverside yoga, street performances, boat tours and a finger food fair.

One of the Shanghai Film Festival’s outdoor cinemas, Shanghai Village is screening award-winning movies ranging from classic romance to science fiction and animation.

Adjacent to Shanghai Disney Resort, Shanghai Village, known as “Yi Ou Lai” in Chinese, opened in 2016 and is the latest addition to The Bicester Village Shopping Collection, one of the world’s leading luxury shopping destinations It has grown into a collection of 11 such villages in Europe and China (Shanghai and Suzhou in Jiangsu Province).

Featuring 1920s Art Deco influences from Milan, Vienna, New York and Paris, Shanghai Village is home to around 180 boutiques showcasing international and Asian fashion and lifestyle brands.

China’s economic recovery is speeding up after the pandemic and the outdoor shopping, dining and entertainment experience is refreshing for people who have spent months confined at home.

Shanghai Village has witnessed an impressive acceleration in recovery, according to Value Retail China, with record-breaking results during the May Day Holiday.

Hermès 2020 Fall-Winter collection.

Hermès’ 2020 Fall-Winter collection was launched recently at Hermès Maison in Shanghai, with its “Innovation in the Making,” theme said to bring people a journey to transform innovative thinking into masterpieces.

Black and white serves as the backdrop to the presentation, featuring smooth lines that form gridded movable fixtures. The minimalist layout of the exhibition creates a robust artistic atmosphere.

Stepping onto the fourth floor, visitors will be dazzled first by two double-face scarves in silk twill, one on each side. The double-face design of the “Couverture et tenue de jour” scarf and the “Formulae chic” scarf that features a vintage car on the front and a Formula One race car on the back give a strong sensory impact.

The Bags and Leather Goods collection demonstrates the brand’s craftsmanship honed over almost 150 years. The “Hermès Della Cavalleria” bag in Tadelakt calfskin with soft curves is decorated with a silver jewel clasp shaped like a bridle bit. The bag comes in two variants, a satchel style bag and a miniature version — providing different styles for day and night. The men’s “Haut à Courroies 40 western” bag in Togo calfskin is embroidered with motifs inspired by the Far West. The design is reminiscent of bridles, evoking reveries of freedom and Hermès’ equestrian heritage.

The Women’s Universe features rhythmic colors, creating a passionate and romantic atmosphere. This season’s primary color, Mexican pink, is on full display in the Histoire Monochrome bag collection. Metal accessories adorn the bags and shimmer with passionate colors. The Lindy Mini and Bolide 1923 Mini bags feature colored zippers, a first for Hermès. The Beauty mule in velvet is a reinterpretation of classic fashion. Decorated with a Hapi buckle inlaid with Swarovski crystals, they highlight a feminine elegance.

The Men’s Universe adds an eclectic and natural charm to leisure. The tote bag 34 in Volupto calfskin (with Histoire Op-Art strap) features a drawstring closure and soft, supple leather, giving the bag a lightweight and practical feel.

In the Jewelry and Watches space, the “Kelly Clochette” line in rose gold and diamonds pays tribute to the chainmaking know-how and leatherwork heritage of the house. The chain plays a central role in this reinterpretation of the “Clochette,” the small leather envelope that protects the keys of Kelly bag padlocks, giving rise to jewelry pieces made to be worn playfully and boldly. The “Arceau Squelette” watch in steel is a new interpretation of the  “Arceau” collection. The smoked sapphire crystal dial and matt alligator strap highlight the self-winding movement’s anthracite skeleton. Openwork numerals and slender hands float over this captivating ballet mécanique.

The Home display area features the Passifolia tableware collection, inspired by lush green botanic garden, while the Perfume Collection displays the Terre d'Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver Eau de parfum, a woody fragrance integrated with the vitality of plants, which will be launched on August 15.

Swatch's three Tokyo watches.

Swiss watchmaker Swatch recently announced a second collaboration with A Bathing Ape, also known as Bape — the Japanese streetwear brand.

The latest Swatch Big Bold product line, a statement piece presenting a striking 47mm watchcase is the obvious choice for this joint venture, allowing everyone to push their own limits, every second of every day, according to the company.

All three watches – the Tokyo White Multi Camo which also comes in white and grey — have multi-colored print on their straps representing different cultures and people connected by their uniqueness. While the watches have Tokyo in their name and on their loops, an homage to Bape's birth city, each watch features both brands’ favorite cities on the bezel.

The packaging comes in the signature Bape camouflage print design; the iconic statement envelops the hard-case box. For die-hard fans, there’s a highly limited set with subtly modified designs.

The collaboration is a perfect match. Bape provides its disruptive and unconventional flair, which catapulted the brand to the cultural forefront, while Swatch brings its innovative watchmaking skills. Based on the Swatch product line, the design of these three watches is about expressing yourself and your individuality.
