With its profound history and unique gardens, Suzhou is the perfect setting for contemporary art exhibitions such as “SU Reflection.”

Curated by Here Your Art and supported by Yanlord Land Group Ltd, the exhibition runs from October 20 to March 20 at the Yanlord Cangjie Former Residence Garden.

Participating artists include Roland Darjes, installation artists Samuelle Green and Juju Wang, new media art group Fn Media Lab and visual artist Brendan Regard. They will collaborate to create an exhibition rooted in the cultural history of Suzhou.

The conversation between the past and present will start as soon as visitors enter the garden. The 19th century building and a more than 150-year-old cypress by its side are a record of history. Now the garden is a new space, linking the past and the future, with technology and art.

The artists' works have different themes and materials, and they have also injected their own understanding and enthusiasm for the traditional culture of Suzhou and contemporary art.

For example, the installation work titled “A Beautiful Life” created by Chinese-American artist Juju Wang is inspired by the famous traditional embroidery of Suzhou. As embroidery threads connect different patterns, threads in Wang’s work weave to mimic a free lifestyle and life's unpredictability.
