The Scotland-born, Manchester-based singer-songwriter Tom Walker has penciled in a Shanghai date as part of his world tour “What a Time to Be Alive.”

Having graduated from London College of Creative Media, Walker released his first hit single “Just You and I” and as a consequence was picked as Elvis Duran’s Artist of the Month to appear on NBC’s Today Show with Kathie Lee Gifford. “Just You and I” was later re-released and got to number three in the UK charts.

The 28-year-old’s successful singing career kicked off from that point.

The talented musician has provided several supporting slots for artists such as Gallant and Jake Bugg before headlining his own UK tour last year.

His smash hit debut album “What A Time To Be Alive” was released last year on Sony subsidiary Relentless Records, which contained the popular single “Leave A Light On.” The track made it to number seven in the UK hit parade. Co-written and produced by Steve Mac, who has worked with international stars such as Sam Smith, George Ezra and Little Mix, the song was a best-seller throughout Europe.

Written by Walker, Joel Pott of Athlete and Cam Blackwood and produced by Mark Ralph, “Better Half of Me” looks set to cement the singer-songwriter’s status as one of the UK’s breakout global stars.

Last year Walker won the Best Breakthrough Act at the Brit Awards, and “Leave a Light On” was nominated for Best British Single.

Walker is not satisfied with his current record of 1.5 billion streams worldwide and wants to improve in it. “I’m enjoying success but always doubting,” he said.

Be sure to book tickets for what promises to be a great night of music.
