Mall offers new ways to shop amid pandemic

With the coronavirus pandemic dealing a heavy blow to the fashion industry as shops place fewer orders due to declining demand, the city’s malls are trying to survive by adopting new shopping methods.
A special fashion event opened at Shimao International Plaza on April 11. The plaza, a city landmark, hosts a number of fashion brands, from world-famous sportswear brand Fila Fusion to Chinese guochao brand Inxx presenting their wares both on the catwalk and via live streaming.
There was also talk on fashion trends during the pandemic.
Chen Chen, Shimao’s deputy promotion director, said the event “could help the situation by increasing brand awareness and driving public interest that will increase sales.”
The mall also live streamed fashion classes and short videos free of charge, with customers able to choose items from different brands by checking online and offline. Online styling services are also available.
