"Shadow" by Yasmin Vinogard

BRAVE NEW FIELD, an international contemporary jewellery exhibition, kicked off recently at Field of Rumination on 2/F, BFC. It will run until September 1.

The exhibition features a host of international contemporary jewellery designers and artists, who present more than 30 pieces. Japanese artist Nagi Nakajima brings the silver “Petal” brooch, inspired by budding flowers; while Israeli designer Yasmin Vinograd’s Shadow Series, made of silver, silk, resin, stainless steel, shows her reflection on the relationship between objects and shadows, creating a refined, powerful and mysterious atmosphere.

Artist Hansel Tai tries to describe how the digital world evolved into a real space full of confusion, information and nightmares with the work “Neo-Genesis,” made of brass, silver, surgical stainless steel and chroming, through the combination of multiple shiny surfaces.

“Colorful Box” by Zhuang Dongdong is a brooch series made of brass and lacquer. The work, inspired by today’s “express parcel” of the online shopping era, combines traditional Chinese lacquer skill based on metal technology, rich in color, vivid in shape. Every brooch is a "half-open package,” implying the “big surprise” when it opens.

Ruta Naujalyte’s "Seven Dwarfs," a necklace piece of seven red hearts by silk and sewing threads, shows the Lithuanian artist’s reflection on gender disparity. In sexism and gender stereotypes, female traits such as emotion and compassion is often opposed to male’s intelligence and rationality. The hearts of the seven kind dwarfs from the fairy tale Snow White mix and balance this gender stereotype.

OPENSUMMER Collection from Swatch

Swiss watchmaker Swatch launches two new collections this June to pay tribute to equality and bravery.

Mirroring the international symbol of love and hope through the rainbow flag, Swatch believes that it is possible to express oneself through a watch.

Every color of the rainbow is dedicated to a specific meaning: red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sunlight, green for nature, indigo for harmony and violet for spirit. OPENSUMMER is identified through its transmission of an emblem of pride and support printed not only on the buckle but also on its 41mm watch-head. Multifaceted and multicolored in its meaning, this watch is this summer’s must-have spirit lifter, ready to be worn with pride.

Ever since its birth in 1983, Swatch has intuitively been open to diversity in all shapes and forms. Open to people, personalities, genders, sexualities and beliefs, Swatch stands by the values of inclusiveness and equality, clearly expressed throughout an inspiring portfolio of collaborations with members of the LGBTQ community.

Another newly-released series, BIG BOLD JELLY, hits with semi-transparent straps and a fully see-through case displaying its technological core, injected with vivid new colors for summer.

From neon green to electric yellow, from orange fluo to azure blue, these fluorescent touches radiate positivity and uplifting spirits reinforced in their transparent environment. This statement piece boasting a diameter 47mm watchcase keeps imposing its mark on outgoing personalities globally.

SANGLUO new pillowcase series

High-end, China-grown silk brand SANGLUO has launched its new pillowcase series, claiming to combine organic silk and hyaluronic acid, which improves sleep, nourishes skin and cares for hair.

SANGLUO says its pillow technology blends hyaluronic acid with animal protein fiber in the silk to help boost beauty. The soft, smooth surface of natural silk with a friction coefficient of only 7 percent will not squeeze the skin and hair.

SANGLUO, boasting a mulberry field covering an area of more than 1,333 hectares in Yunnan Province, is so far the country’s only certificated organic silk brand. Its collections include bedding, underwear, nightgowns and home leisure wear.
