New electronic medical card to create better treatment environment
Shanghai Cancer Center and Tencent signed an agreement today.
Shanghai Cancer Center today teamed up with Tencent to introduce a WeChat-based electronic medical card, allowing patients to complete registration, pay their bill, check test results and find out waiting times, all with a single card.
The system can also recommend nearby eateries and hotels to patients, as well as offer transportation guidance in line with patients’ waiting times to help them better manage their time while avoiding crowds at the hospital. These services will be of particular use to patients who are unfamiliar with the area, as many come for treatment from other provinces.
Using this electric medical card could help patients save at least 2.5 hours, while hospital staff can also lessen some of their workload and create a better hospital environment, as patients will be able to arrive at the hospital when it is their turn instead of waiting in noisy and crowded waiting rooms for hours.
“Our purpose is to build a hospital without walls, which means all nearby commercial centers and entertainment venues can be part of the hospital, allowing patients to see a movie, have a cup of coffee and visit their friends at these places during waiting time, all while being closely managed by the system,” said Dong Feng, a hospital official.
“All procedures can be fulfilled through the electronic medical card for patient convenience."
