City firms on show at environment expo

The upcoming 20th IE Expo China, an annual trade fair with an environmental theme, will have a Shanghai Pavilion for the first time where 21 local institutes, organizations and companies will display their latest technologies and research.

The expo, at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from April 15 to 17 in the Pudong New Area, will have more than 2,000 enterprises from 25 countries and regions including the UK, the US, Canada, Germany, Italy, Denmark, France, Japan and South Korea. 

Air pollution treatment, recycling and resource regeneration and garbage sorting will be highlights. Products and technologies at the expo will include environmental protection solutions regarding water, solid waste, air, soil and noise produced in urban, industrial and rural areas.

The Shanghai Pavilion will cover the city's environmental protection achievements in such fields as equipment manufacturing, environmental design and counseling, and scientific research and application.

"There will be a display of the city's whole industrial chain (on environmental protection)," said Jiang Gang, vice president of China Environment Chamber of Commerce and general manager of Messe Muenchen Zhongmao Co, both organizers of the expo.

Jiang said the expo will also have a section displaying future environmental ideas and technologies on subjects such as self-sufficient heating, sewage treatment, safe drinking water supply, household waste disposal, vertical greening and indoor air purification.

Twelve enterprises will debut their latest products related to industries ranging from aviation to garbage sorting.
