Renji Hospital and Shanghai United Imaging Healthcare Co are to set up a creative molecular imaging research center to enhance study on molecular probe, radiative or magnetic resonance markers and the introduction of clinical research into practical development by using big data, artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies.

Officials said on Tuesday that the new center was a good example of industry, study and research coordination that can boost scientific development in Shanghai.

The center will be equipped with leading equipment including a total-body positron emission tomography / computed tomography (PET/CT) scanner, which can conduct simultaneous traces on changes in the organs, molecules and metabolism.

The center will also carry out early prevention and diagnosis on diseases to achieve individualized and precise medication, officials said.
