Two nucleic acid test sampling points, with a total of 44 seats, have been set up at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport’s two terminals for inbound passengers.

Shanghai Customs has been testing passengers since March 31 and refitted shuttle buses as temporary sites for taking samples.

However, with the arrival of summer and thunderstorms and typhoons expected to affect their work, it has decided to establish special rooms for taking samples.

Vacant sites on the parking aprons of the two terminals were selected for sampling rooms which met biosafety requirements.

Each room has three zones — contaminated, semi-contaminated and clean. Passengers and medical staff have different entrances and exits to prevent cross-infection.
