1 new COVID-19 case reported in Shanghai

One new imported novel coronavirus case was reported in the city on Thursday, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Friday morning.

The newly diagnosed patient, a Chinese studying in France, arrived at Pudong International Airport on July 6 and was confirmed infection during quarantine.

The patient has been transferred to the designated hospital for treatment, while 49 close contacts on the same plane have been tracked down and put under quarantine and observation.

So far, of all the 380 imported cases, 355 have been discharged upon recovery and 25 are still hospitalized.

Four imported suspected case are undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted or suspected cases were reported on Wednesday.

Of all the 342 local cases, 334 have been discharged upon recovery and one is hospitalized for treatment. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation now, the health commission said.
