Artists in Shanghai will showcase their works and performances online this September to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.

The event – “the global cultural art exhibition” – will include original dances, paintings, dramas and vocal music, the Asia Cultural Artists Association, one of the organizers, has announced.

The exhibition will also feature the friendship between China and Russia, as well as artworks from Asia and Latin America wishing for peace and a better world.

“This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations,” said Xiang Yang, president of the association.

“In the past 75 years, the UN has made great contributions to  world peace and the improvement of livelihood of people around the world. The exhibition will showcase the role of the UN as a multilateral and multicultural platform in the world. The ACAA has also been providing platforms for multiple cultures and arts from various countries. The exhibition will be a cultural feast for artists.”

He said communication via art exhibitions can reduce  differences between countries and regions.

“The world needs peace, and peace needs support from culture,” said Xiang.

He said the ACAA will set up Asia culture exchange centers in Moscow and Weihai, in Shandong Province, with the protection of environment, the world and ocean as its main tasks in the following 10 years. Meanwhile, the association will also set up an ocean protection base in Qingdao, Shandong.
