The city has officially designated 22 additional streets as green boulevards, bringing the total to 264, greenery authorities announced on Tuesday.

The list of new green boulevards includes Gaoyou Road in Xuhui District, Xiangshan Road in Huangpu District, and a section of Honggu Road in Changning District, according to the Shanghai Greenery and Public Sanitation Bureau.

The 22 boulevards feature tree species such as plane, camphor, goldenrain, beech and dawn redwood, the bureau said.

The city began designating boulevards in 2011. The 22 streets will bring the boulevards' collective length to more than 258 kilometers, according to the bureau.

The bureau released maps of 10 boulevard clusters on Tuesday as well. They are Ruijin No.2 Road, Hengshan Road, Jing'an Temple, Zhabei Park, Caoyang, Quyang, Fudan University, Zhoujiadu, Baogang and Nanqiao boulevard clusters.

Boulevard clusters are planned near historical conservation zones, business areas and residential communities, the bureau said.
