Li introduced measures taken for the prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as for social and economic development in Shanghai and China. He hoped the two cities will deepen cooperation and exchanges to make new contributions to the development of Sino-German relationship.

“Next year is the 35th anniversary of the friendship between Shanghai and Hamburg and we are grateful to Hamburg for inviting Shanghai as the guest city at the 2021 Hamburg Port Festival. The 3rd China International Import Expo will be held in Shanghai in November as scheduled. More German companies and Hamburg companies are welcome to participate, share development opportunities and expand practical cooperation,” Li said.

Tschentscher voiced his gratitude for the support and help provided by Shanghai in various areas, including fighting the pandemic, saying that both sides should continue to deepen cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, science, culture, education and public health. “We sincerely welcome Shanghai to join the 2021 Hamburg Port Festival as the guest city,” he added.

City leaders Zhuge Yujie and Sha Hailin also joined the video conference.
