Kashgar encouraging visits from Shanghai
Shanghai has paired with Kashgar in a national program which includes support for tourism.

Kashgar Prefecture, in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, signed cooperation agreements in Shanghai to boost its tourism recovery and enhance exchanges with the city.
Chartered flights will be organized from Shanghai to Kashgar to enable businesses in the city to invest in and seek business cooperation with the prefecture and purchase local agricultural products in a poverty alleviation scheme, Shanghai Spring Tour said.
Shanghai tourists will take chartered flights on Spring Airlines to Kashgar’s Shache, Zepu, Bachu and Yecheng counties to appreciate their breath-taking natural landscape, unique culture and customs, the travel agency said.
Tour itineraries featuring photography, Zen meditation and hiking will be released.
Kashgar has a wealth of tourism resources to be enjoyed by visitors from Shanghai.
Stunning landscapes are a feature of Kashgar Prefecture.
Kashgar’s culture, radio and television, and tourism administration signed cooperation agreements with travel agencies in Shanghai which will bring city tourists to the prefecture.
"Kashgar is making big strides toward a tourism-strong prefecture with help and support from Shanghai, and incentives to attract tourists and encourage travel agencies to organize trips to the prefecture have been worked out," said Li Chengyang, deputy director of the administration.
Shanghai has paired with Kashgar in a national program to assist in its development for 10 years and tourism support is part of the scheme.
Kashgar displayed its intangible cultural heritage and 50 farmer paintings in Shanghai.
Kashgar, which is on the ancient Silk Road, boasts rich tourism resources and a strong ethnic flavor. It has 46 A-level tourist attractions. In the first five months of this year, it had 4.07 million visits from domestic tourists.
Kashgar's scenery will prove attractive to photographers.
