Exhibition spotlights young art teachers
An exhibition featuring artworks by 22 young teachers from Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts was held at Powerlong Museum this month.
“New Shanghai Style — Young Teachers at Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts” displayed their works in ink-wash painting, print, sculpture, photography and glassware.
According to Li Chao, vice principal of the art academy, these young teachers are becoming a collective force not only in the education of college students, but in exploring their own artistic path as well.
“In my eyes, 'Shanghai style' is not something hotchpotch,” said Feng Yuan, principal of the academy. “It is the spirit of an openness to diversity. However, the attitude of openness alone is obviously not enough in art, we also demand depth, and I hope that this exhibition can reflect both to the public.”
