Shanghai Media Group is presenting special TV programs in tribute to members of the People's Volunteer Army of China who participated in the Korean War (1950-53).

At 9am on Friday, Dragon TV will air a three-hour news special with Shen Zhihua, with East China Normal University, talking about the event and its influence.

A series of documentaries will also be broadcast on Docu TV and Dragon TV through Sunday.

“Ode to Heroes,” a 45-minute documentary, records Shanghai’s support for Chinese soldiers at the time. The six-episode documentary series “For Peace” tells many unknown stories about the war.

Movies and TV dramas set against the backdrop of the war will also be shown. Among them are classic films “Battle on Shangganling Mountain” and “Heroic Breed,” and TV series “The 38th Parallel.”
