Shanghai's tourism authorities released measures on Thursday to guarantee the safety of visitors attending the upcoming third China International Import Expo.

Hotels receiving expo guests have been ordered to implement temperature checks and prepare hand sanitizers in advance, the Shanghai Administration of Culture and Tourism said. They should also check guests' health QR codes.

Online tour operators, including as Trip.com and Meituan, have been ordered to improve their booking platforms of designated expo hotels and enable guests to find search results within 10 seconds, the administration said.

Hotel groups, including Jinjiang, Huazhu and Hyatt, are being encouraged to set up self-service check-in at their hotels, ensuring check-in within 30 seconds, it said.

"CIIE service ambassadors" will provide information, booking and complaint services to guests timely, according to the administration.

Some 40,000 promotion pamphlets will be placed at designated expo hotels, providing tourism maps, routes and tips for visitors attending the event.

An insurance mechanism is also in place in case of COVID-19 cases at designated hotels, the administration said.
