The number of COVID-19 tests conducted in China since the coronavirus outbreak is three times higher than that in the United States, according to US media reports.

Citing Guo Yanhong, an official with China's National Health Commission, US political website The Hill said in a recent report that as of June 22, Chinese medical institutions have conducted 90.41 million nucleic acid tests for COVID-19 in total.

In contrast, the United States has carried out about 29.33 million tests according to the U.S. Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, the report said.

China currently can offer 3.78 million nucleic acid tests for COVID-19 every day, a 200-percent increase from March, The Hill cited Guo as saying.
