The number of daily COVID-19 cases remained above 100 for a 10th day in Hong Kong on Friday, pointing to a grave epidemic situation.

Hong Kong's Center for Health Protection reported 121 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 118 local infections, taking the tally to 3,272 in Hong Kong.

Out of the new local cases, 62 are related to previously confirmed cases, with many getting infected by family members or at gatherings, Chuang Shuk-kwan, head of the CHP's Communicable Disease Branch, said at a media briefing on Friday afternoon.

Chuang added that the CHP failed to trace the source of the rest 56 local infections.

Hong Kong's Hospital Authority said 1,187 patients are still hospitalized, including 43 in critical condition. The total deaths stand at 27 in Hong Kong.
