Suzhou's Wangting Town touts rural tourism
The town of Wangting in Suzhou, neighboring Jiangsu Province, has unveiled its tourism splendor and stepped up integration into the Yangtze River Delta region ahead of the eight-day National Day holiday.
The town government released several new tourist routes recently to attract tourists from the delta region.
Following these routes, tourists can stroll the north Taihu Lake scenic area, experience local farming life, savor the town's tranquility, and appreciate the beautiful lake scenery and typical Jiangnan culture.
The north Taihu Lake scenic area covering 9 square kilometers boasts a paddy park, a wetland park, and a nongjiale (rural tourism) area featuring village cuisine.
The ancient town has a history dating back nearly 2,000 years.
The town newly renovated its Wangting Ancient Street and built the Grand Canal Historical and Cultural Park featuring heritage protection, cultural research and ecological tourism.
