As more and more customers go shopping and dining again, preventive measures against the novel coronavirus must not be loosened, Xinhua warned on Tuesday.

It noted that many restaurants and retail centers, even karaoke bars and bathrooms, had gradually resumed business, and in some cases, there appeared long lines of customers.

Overall, preventive measures were in place, Xinhua reported, citing regular use of disinfectants, among other things.

But some KTV bars and indoor sports facilities had yet to strengthen their guard against the possible spread of the virus, Xinhua warned. In some places, it discovered, ventilation and traffic control were still not up to standard.

Although we have made substantial progress in fighting the coronavirus, we cannot afford to be light-hearted at this time. Strict prevention must remain in place so that we will leave nothing to chance.
