Lingang global industry center target by 2025
Science and technology innovation and high-end industries is Lingang’s formula to become an international intelligent manufacturing center by 2025.
The port town at Shanghai’s southeast tip will create five platforms to help fulfill the ambition. One of the platforms bridges the research and development and achievement transformation.
At present, the Industrial Internet Innovation Center, initiated by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, plays a prominent role.
Another platform focuses on technical innovation, such as the Industry 4.0 Comprehensive Research Institute led by Sinsun Robot.
A standard validation platform is the third of the five which include the Intelligent Manufacturing Innovation Center established by the Shanghai Institute of Process Automation Instrumentation.
The final two platforms are data information and talent platform.
Lingang will rely on the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and China Mobile Internet Data Center to build an industrial cloud consortium. It also encourages local businesses to establish learning factories and develop training courses to cultivate an intelligent manufacturing workforce.
On the basis of the platforms, Lingang will create a four-in-one science and research network with participation from R&D, industries, capital and services to further inspire innovation.
The Shanghai Intelligent Manufacturing Research Institute, jointly established by Lingang and Shanghai Jiao Tong University two years ago, has offered technical support to more than 30 enterprises.
Earlier this year, Fudan University signed an agreement with Lingang Management Committee and Lingang Group to build Fudan University Engineering and Applied Technology Research Institute, which is expected to push forward the scientific innovation and industrialize the research achievements in Lingang.
By the end of last year, a total of 149 intelligent manufacturing projects from Lingang had been initiated, which acquired 1.3 billion yuan (US$204 million) of support and attracted 5.65 billion yuan of investment.
