District’s scenic sites attracting thousands

According to the local tourism bureau, the 11 scenic attractions in Songjiang District received almost 320,000 tourists during the Chinese New Year holiday from February 15-21, generating revenue of about 13 million yuan (US$2 million).

Among them, Guangfulin Countryside Park attracted 27,100 people to the archeological site in Songjiang.

The 10 travel hotels included in the statistics received a total number of 8,601 customers, with occupancy rate soaring to 39.04 percent.

As to traveling styles, folklore tours began to win favor with both Shanghai citizens and out-of-town visitors. Many scenic zones in Songjiang offered participants activities with a traditional Chinese New Year flavor.

Happy Valley amusement park, with its grand lantern exhibition, attracted 33,800 tourists during the seven-day holiday.

Shanghai Film Park offered visitors a chance of retrieving old Shanghai memories by guiding park tours.

Zuibai Pond Park held activities that included winter jasmine sketching, clay figurine molding and local comedy performances.

Besides folklore tours, country tours continued to win popularity with tourists. Visitors can bathe in hot springs, pick strawberries and taste farm food at places like Xuelanghu Resort and Pujiangyuan Resort.

The fresh air, soothing sceneries and simple folkways are what make visitors want to linger with no thought of leaving.

The Wushe Agriculture and Tourism Garden received 5,400 visitors in total, up 5.88 percent year on year. Xinbang Tourist Company transported 31,200 passengers, up 4.7 percent year on year.

Songjiang tourist bureau distributed 20,000 pamphlets on holiday activities to tour consulting centers throughout the city and scenic zones.

No travel safety-related accidents or complaints occurred during the Spring Festival holiday.
