A special New Year with the Russian State Ballet

AFTER the huge popularity of their performance earlier this year, the Russian State Ballet will come back to Shanghai with Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake” and “The Nutcracker” again.

The classic shows will be presented at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center from January 3 to 7 to celebrate the New Year, and open the company’s new season.

“Swan Lake,” the tale of Princess Odette, has enchanted generations of audiences around the world with its story, music and choreography.

The Russian State Ballet’s interpretation has been hailed for its difficult dance moves and new and in-depth depiction of the characters.

In this performance, the evil black swan will perform 32 fouette turns in one move. It is a showcase of classical techniques and stamina.

The two-act ballet “The Nutcracker” is a light-hearted performance for the whole family to celebrate the New Year.

Audiences can follow the steps of a little girl into a magical kingdom after she meets a toy nutcracker. The sets and costumes in the show are lavish and stunning.

The Russian State Ballet is one of the most renowned ballet troupes in Europe. Its performances have won acclaim from all over the world.

Over the years, the company has also been engaged in education and cultural exchanges to promote ballet and its appreciation.
