Handing out bags full of happiness

On November 30, we and other BISS Puxi students went to Suzhou with the students of the Giving Tree committee, the Primary Student Council and 610 Giving Tree bags.

It took about an hour to get there and when we were pulling in we saw the Grade 1 students opening their bags and the smiles on their faces went from ear to ear. We then got off the bus and started to take out all the Giving Tree bags that our school community donated. We put them into class order and at that time the students had break time and all came running over — they were all so excited to open the bags!

Once the bags were at the right classes we stood outside to watch a performance. The students had prepared a drum performance, dance and one student played a traditional Chinese instrument. We then sang Christmas carols to the students and teachers. After a few speeches we went to the classes and gave out the bags. All the students were laughing because we could not pronounce the names correctly and had to ask them for help. When all the kids had their bags we said our goodbyes and left. Going to the Giving Tree activity was an amazing opportunity because we got to see how other kids live and it taught us how lucky we are.

The Giving Tree charity is an amazing charity and it supports so many kids.
