‘Mindblowing’ conference looks at working for the greater good

I attended the GINAsia conference along with the members of the service portfolio and we were amazed by what we experienced.

It was impressive to see the level of detail and planning that was put into it, especially considering that, as a portfolio, we would like to host our own.

I enjoyed talking to students and teachers from other schools and learning about their approaches to service.

It was definitely beneficial to hear about all the different issues that specific schools tackle. Some focussing more on sustainability, while others were more focused on poverty.

I found the panel discussions most interesting where we got to talk to the leaders of large campaigns and projects. They were inspiring to listen to, because of the large impact of what they initially thought was going to be a small change.

Most notable to me personally was Peter Dalglish. He managed to stand out amongst the other extraordinary speakers.

He talked about honoring your passion, issues of every scale and what he has done to solve some of them. After listening to all the amazing keynotes, his made me reflect the most.

Attending the GINAsia conference took us all by storm and never did we think we would come back feeling so inspired and empowered.

We are looking forward to bringing some of the ideas we came across to the College during our very own event next academic year.

Stay tuned for more news.
