‘Baby loves China:’ glimpses into ethnic minority cultures
“BABY Loves Chinese Culture,” as a new series produced by the Shanghai Children’s Arts Theater, will kick off next week with its first program featuring Mongolian ethnic group.
The Inner Mongolian National Arts Theater from Hohhot will bring music and dances showcasing ethnic features on March 10-11.
Apart from classic dances featuring Mongolian people farming and hunting, the artists will also present the Khoomei singing skill — making two tone voices simultaneously from one human throat.
Three life-sized Mongolian yurts will be set up at the theater, showing children audiences the traditional life of Mongolian people.
The “Baby Loves Chinese Culture” series plans to present cultures of different Chinese ethnic groups quarterly.
This year, programs integrating stage performance, costumes and instrument exhibitions are arranged to help children get to know about the Mongolian and Korean ethnic groups.
