Russian troupe to stage three classic ballet shows

THE Russian State Ballet plans to stage three classic works, “Sleeping Beauty,” “The Nutcracker” and “Cinderella,” during the National Day holiday in October.

The performances promise to showcase a visual feast of magic, marvelous melodies, lavish scenes and exquisite costumes.

“Sleeping Beauty” is a fantasy story surrounding the sleeping Princess Aurora, who is awoken one day by a heroic prince.

More than 200 costumes will be featured in the show, which displays the majestic splendor of the royal palace.

“The Nutcracker,” based on E.T.A Hoffmann’s story, depicts a girl’s adventure in a magical kingdom, while “Cinderella” is a romantic tale between the young Ella and a charming prince who fall in love with each other at a royal ball.

The productions have been critically acclaimed on previous world tours and, under renowned ballet artist Gordeev Viacheslav, the shows promise to hit even greater heights.

A 70 percent discount is offered to early birds who buy tickets ahead of August 15.
