Dazzling light show at the Herb Garden

COLORFUL lamps are illuminating flowers and herbs every night at Shanghai International Tourism and Resorts Zone as part of a two-monthlong light and music festival.

The management of the zone in Pudong launched the festival on Sunday at its Herb Garden near Shanghai Disney Resort. It will run until October 15.

Jellyfish lamps were hung over a large area of lavender and rose flowers to make the garden appear like an underwater world, according to the zone’s management committee.

The light show takes place daily from 4pm to 10:30pm. Rock bands, popular singers and choruses such as the Zero band, which originated in Hohhot in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in 1989 and has been popular nationwide since then, will perform in the garden during the festival.

Soul Ecstasy, a band from Finland, and the Beer band from Munich, Germany, will join the performances.

A spectacular light show is planned for September 9 to echo the opening of the annual Shanghai Tourism Festival.

Other major installations for the festival include the “Coming Back of Dragon Horses,” where 100 horses in various positions are portrayed through light and music.

A 100-meter-long LED screen showcases iconic structures of Shanghai, while a 16-meter-tall pyramid displays changing lights and shows images.

An arched corridor created by canes is illuminated by starry lights to give the appearance of a time tunnel, the committee said.

The rose garden, the most popular attraction at the Herb Garden, is the best place for selfies as each rose is illuminated by lamps, the official said.
