Case submitted against accused killer

PROSECUTORS have filed a case against a man who allegedly killed two boys in a knife attack in June.

The No. 1 Branch of Shanghai People’s Procuratorate filed the case against Huang Yichuan with the Shanghai Intermediate People’s Court on charges of murder, the procuratorate said yesterday.

No trial date has been set.

Huang allegedly killed two boys with a kitchen knife outside the Shanghai World Foreign Language Primary School in Xuhui District on June 28, prosecutors said earlier.

The suspect, 29, was subdued by police and passers-by at the scene, according to prosecutors.

According to investigators, Huang came from Shaoyang City in central China’s Hunan Province. Huang claimed that he was weary of the world and decided to take revenge against society, prosecutors said.

On the morning of June 28, Huang allegedly boarded a bus from his hostel, with a knife, to an area near the school. About 11am, he saw students leaving the school and he followed them for about 130 meters before attacking, prosecutors said.
