Police catch woman wanted in Ctrip affair
A woman sought by Shanghai police for allegedly being involved in the Ctrip nursery scandal, was caught on a train leaving Shanghai on Monday.
Dalian railway police said yesterday they caught the woman surnamed Wu on a train from Shanghai to Dalian, Liaoning Province.
Wu, 46, told the police that she worked as a nursing teacher in the Ctrip nursery.
It was not clear if Wu was one of the teachers who appeared in videos online that showed children being fed wasabi and a child thrown to the ground.
Four people working in the nursery, including the person in charge, have already been detained by Shanghai police for allegedly mistreating people under their guardianship.
Wu allegedly left Shanghai when the scandal broke, but had returned to the city by train from Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province, on November 19. On Monday she was attempting to travel back to Qinhuangdao.
She told police that her parents are living in Qinhuangdao, and she had returned to Shanghai to pick up personal belongings left in her rented apartment.
She has been handed over by Dalian police to Nanjing police and will be soon handed over to Shanghai, Dalian police said. Shanghai police did not respond to a request for comment.
