Police solve mutt mating case

POLICE have helped a woman get compensation after her pedigree poodle mated with a neighbor's mutt.

It happened in southeastern China's Fuqing City and it involved a woman, surnamed Huang, who had taken her dog for a walk and noticed it playing with the mutt next door.

She found two weeks later that her beloved poodle Huanhuan had slowed down and was eating a lot, the Fujian-based Taihainet.com reported today.

Huang took Huanhuan to a pet clinic and found her dog was pregnant. Worried that her well-bred poodle would produce a mongrel Huang had her dog aborted and asked the neighbor for compensation.

The neighbor, Xu, ignored her request, so Huang asked the police to help and after they mediated the good neighbor Xu agreed to pay 300 yuan (US$49) to cover the veterinarian fees.
