Primary school student detained for prostitution

A PRIMARY school student has been detained for five days after police confirmed she was engaged in prostitution, said police in Kunming, Yunnan Province.

The girl, using the pseudonym Chen Yan, had sex with three men, police spokesman Yao Zhihong said today, China News Agency reported. Yao added that the men had either been detained or fined.

Yao didn't reveal when the three acts of prostitution happened.

Police are also investigating Chen's parents for providing accommodation for prostitution, the report said. The father has been arrested previously for providing accommodation for prostitution.

He tricked police into wrongfully detaining two of his daughters, also primary school students, for prostitution on March 16 after police found Chen taking a man home. Police said the couple asked their older daughter to put on Chen's clothes and escort her client out of the house.

They were released the next morning.

Officer Yao also clarified that police had never forced the couple or Chen into confessing the crime.
