Malaysia veteran Lee Chong Wei rallied to beat Anthony Sinisuka Ginting of Indonesia 16-21, 21-9, 21-11 to enter the quarterfinals at the Badminton Asia Championships in Wuhan, central Hubei Province, yesterday.

Lee set up a rematch of the Commonwealth Games final against Kidambi Srikanth in the quarterfinals. No. 5 seed Lee, 35, defeated India’s top player early this month in a 3-game final on the Gold Coast in Australia to clinch his third Commonwealth Games gold medal. Top seed Srikanth advanced with little effort as his rival in the second round Wong Wing Ki, retired while trailing 2-7 in the first game. In other action, newly-crowned All-England champion Shi Yuqi of China, seeded fourth, lost to former world no. 2 Kento Momota of Japan, 15-21, 21-12, 12-21 while second-seeded Son Wan-ho of South Korea also reached the last 8, seeing off the challenge of Kanta Tsuneyama of Japan in straight games, 21-12, 21-18.
