Romantic and quality idol ‘Chinked Out’ in Shanghai

“POWERFUL singer,” “romantic and quality idol,” and the “king of Chinese pop” are just three statements made about Leehom Wang, one of the most important, influential and prolific musical artists in Chinese music. And he is coming back to Shanghai with his world tour.

Since his debut album “Love Rival Beethoven,” Wang has released more than 25 albums including “Revolution,” “Impossible to Miss You,” “The One and Only,” “Change Me” and “Heroes of Earth,” with sales of over 50 million copies.

With Chinese origins and a Western educational background, Wang showcases his inimitable music style labelled “Chinked-out” for fusing Chinese elements, such as Peking Opera, traditional ethnic minority styles and Chinese classical orchestra, R&B and Hip-Hop.

The talented singer-songwriter has produced a multiple of songs in this musical genre, including “Shang-ri La,” “Besides the Plum Blossoms,” “Mistake in the Flower Field” and “Bo Ya Cuts the Strings.”

Since his debut in 1996, Wang has won numerous awards and honors, including four Golden Melody Awards — Chinese “Grammys,” 12 Chinese Music Awards and seven HITO Radio Music Awards.

Entitled “Descendants of Dragon 2060,” Wang’s world concert tour will continue in Wuhan, Nanjing, Chengdu, Shenzhen and Chongqing after Shanghai.
