'The Incredible History of Violin' world tour in Shanghai

VERSATILE violinist Ara Malikian is going on a world tour this year and will come to Shanghai with his latest work “The Incredible History of Violin.”

This Lebanese-born Spanish violinist of Armenian descent, with his seven-piece band, will present his unique illustration of classic and contemporary music which includes his own adaptation of masterpieces from legendary artists like David Bowie, J.S. Bach and Paganini.

With his diverse cultural background, Malikian has assimilated the music of cultures from the Middle East, Central Europe, Argentina and Spain.

He mixes Arab, Jewish, Gipsy, Klezmer elements, tango and flamingo in his performance with a combination of violin and guitar.

He performed his fist concert at 12 and at 15, Malikian became the youngest student admitted to the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, one of Germany’s largest music-academies.

Since then he has performed in over 40 countries in five continents, acquiring inspiration during his journeys and spreading his ethic culture through his music. 

Highly praised by the Spanish Royal family and renowned filmmaker Pedro Almodovar, Malikian will come to Shanghai and share his stories and music with the audience.
