Auto parts suppliers are embracing emerging trends such as digitalization and connectivity in China's after-sales market to further expand business and increase profits, according to Automechanika Shanghai, which opens on Wednesday.

As Asia’s largest trade fair for automotive parts, accessories, equipment and services, about 6,250 exhibitors and over 140,000 trade visitors will participate in Automechanika Shanghai. This year, the exhibition space is estimated to reach 350,000 square meters.

The exhibition will display the latest products and technologies in the field of autonomous driving, car connectivity, digital automotive innovations, advanced systems and other areas, which all play a crucial role in shaping the future of the auto industry.

Fiona Chiew, deputy general manager of exhibition organiser Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd, said that Automechanika Shanghai continues to walk alongside the industry’s ever-changing trends. “We witnessed a shift in attitude for automotive manufacturing in recent years," she said. "The industry’s vast majority of innovations lie in digitalization and connectivity coming to fruition across multiple sectors."

One of the highlights of the exhibition this year is a new area named Tomorrow’s Service & Mobility. Located in the North Hall, the area will focus on car connectivity through exhibits, forums and interactive activities for private and public transportation. Visitors can explore a number of on-site car demonstrations, with a host of electric vehicles on display.

A number of leading international network and information technology providers will also gather in the area, demonstrating how connectivity continues to bridge the auto sector with the online world.

Other highlights of the show include an exhibition area for tyres, wheels and rims as well as an area dedicated to domestic and international chain stores which conduct automotive after-sales servicing.

Automechanika Shanghai is scheduled to take place from November 28 to December 1 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. The event is organised by Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd and the China National Machinery Industry International Co Ltd.
