Shanghai auto industry accelerates production

Eight car manufacturers and more than 600 auto-parts makers in Shanghai have resumed production, according to data released by the Shanghai Commission of Economy and Informatization.

Automobile companies such as SAIC Volkswagen, SAIC-GM and Tesla are among those that have resumed work. The Shanghai government has been closely working with enterprises to ensure the production of key components and items which are out of stock.

With the help of authorities, auto-parts makers such as Yanfeng, Shanghai Huizhong Automotive Manufacturing Co and Huayu Magna have resumed work to provide support to automakers.

Jiading District and Kunshan, in Jiangsu Province, cooperated to prevent COVID-19 and issued work and shuttle permits to employees from SAIC Volkswagen and other companies in order to ensure the work resumption.

The management committee of Lingang New Area helped Tesla return to normal production. With the committee’s assistance, Tesla received two infrared temperature check devices from Lingang enterprise Stratosphere to improve the efficiency of temperature checks for employees. The management committee also helped Tesla obtain disinfectant and other supplies before work resumed.
